After reviewing relevant research on the topic, the author sets out two main tasks for this study. Firstly, the thesis analyzes the context of the emergence and identifies the basic contents of the concept of "filial piety" in pre-Qin Confucianism. The content of the concept of "filial piety" is primarily expressed through two basic relationships: the relationship between parents and children, and the relationship between the ruler and the people. From there, the author points out the values and limitations of this concept. Secondly, the thesis identifies the manifestations of the concept of "filial piety" in pre-Qin Confucianism within the National Dynasty Criminal Code. Finally, the thesis offers some assessments of the concept of filial piety in the National Dynasty Criminal Code.

After referring to research works related to the topic, the author has posed two major tasks to research the topic. Firstly, the thesis analyzes historical context and basic contents of filial piety's conception in pre-Quin Confucianism. The content of filial piety's conception was expressed through two main relationships. Those are relationships between parents and children and relationships between king and people. Therefrom, the author indicates its values and limitations. Secondly, the author presents expressions of filial piety's conception of pre-Quin Confucianism in Quoc Trieu Hinh Law. After that, the thesis brings out some appreciations about filial' conception in Quoc trieu hinh law.
