10. Summary of thesis results:

Through the survey, the thesis presents statistics on the quantity and description of reduplicative words obtained in Vietnamese language teaching textbooks for foreigners. These statistics and descriptions are based on the classification of reduplicative words in terms of structure and semantics. Reduplicative words appear in the pronunciation section of basic textbooks, in individual sentences and paragraphs, in particular, they appear more in textbooks at advanced levels and the specific and official teaching of reduplicative words is mentioned in some advanced textbooks. In addition, the thesis also presents a preliminary overview of the actual use of reduplicative words by students, identifies possible errors when using them, and provides directions for introducing reduplicative words to students as well as types of exercises for practice to achieve high efficiency in teaching.

Thereby, the thesis hopes to contribute to providing a clearer view of this special vocabulary case in particular and of Vietnamese language research in general in the application of teaching Vietnamese as a foreign language.

11. Practical application:

Based on the content of the thesis surveying reduplicated words and the direction of teaching reduplicated words in Vietnamese textbooks, our proposal on the use of reduplicated words in textbooks is to recognize, evaluate, and scientifically arrange the purpose and method of introducing reduplicated words into teaching. At the same time, adding some types of practice exercises with high practical application to help students absorb Vietnamese reduplicated words effectively and apply them in appropriate contexts.

10. Summary of the findings of the thesis:

This thesis presents statistics and descriptions of reduplicative words collected from the Vietnamese teaching materials. The statistics and semantic descriptions are based on structural and classifications. Reduplicative words are used in pronunciation practice of basic-level books, in individual sentences and texts, especially used with higher number in advanced-level books. The definition of reduplicative word are officially mentioned in some advanced-level books as well. In addition, the thesis also indicates reality about using reduplicative words of learners, identifies errors and suggests ways to introduce reduplicative words and forms of exercises for an easy, effective approach.

Thus, the thesis provides a view of this special case of vocabulary in particular and an aspect of studying Vietnamese in general regarding application on teaching Vietnamese as a foreign language.

11. Applicability in practice:

Based on the survey's results in this thesis, we refer an overview, evaluation and scientific arrangement about purpose of using reduplicative word and ways of teaching this vocabulary aspect in Vietnamese teaching books. Besides, some forms of practical exercises are suggested for the purpose of helping foreign learners to learn reduplicative words effectively and to apply them in the right context.
