This thesis focuses on researching and presenting the following basic results:
Affirming the outstanding and significant contributions of Tao Đàn in publishing articles on literature, arts, and culture, which significantly contributed to the building and promotion of Vietnamese national culture in the period before the August 1945 Revolution. Recognizing two models of cultural and artistic magazines that Tao Đàn implemented as an initiative: a monthly magazine with stable, comprehensive sections on creative writing, research, criticism, and translation; and a special thematic magazine that promptly updated information on an author immediately after their death within the year.
In less than a year of operation, with 13 regular issues and 2 special issues, Tao Dan has strived to attract articles according to its predetermined section and page allocation. Tao Dan's success can be attributed to its close adherence to its stated principle: to build a literary and artistic foundation bearing the distinctive mark of the nation. Tao Dan magazine is not only a meeting place for intellectual currents and artistic trends, but has truly become an open forum accepting all differing viewpoints as long as they share a common stance in preserving and promoting the unique humanistic values of the nation.
In the effort to protect and promote the values of Vietnamese cultural identity, the press plays a crucial role. The press is both a tool for disseminating culture and a product, an element of culture. It has actively participated in preserving, disseminating, and enriching the cultural treasures of the nation and humanity. Through its activities, Tao Dan not only contributes to reviving the cultural values and fine traditions of the nation but also simultaneously filters out cultural elements that are no longer relevant. Tao Dan is an important gateway for receiving new cultural elements. National culture needs to be built on the foundation of protecting and preserving what is already good, unique, and worthy of preservation. Tao Dan evokes in the reader's mind the vibrant academic atmosphere of previous years, bringing together talented and dedicated writers.
