10. Summary of the thesis results:
This thesis aims to focus on an often-overlooked aspect of peacebuilding: the participation of women in peace and security.
- Chapter 1 of the thesis focuses on clarifying the theoretical basis and legal grounds for women's participation in United Nations peacekeeping forces. Women's participation in these forces is based on both theoretical principles and a legal framework aimed at promoting gender equality, human rights, and the effectiveness of peacekeeping operations.
- Based on the theoretical and legal framework established in Chapter 1, this thesis focuses on clarifying the participation and contributions of women in peace missions, including peace processes and the fields in which women are involved, namely military, police, and civilian affairs, while also examining the situation in several territories and countries around the world, including Vietnam.
- Based on the current situation regarding women's participation and activities, this thesis assesses the positive contributions and successes of women in United Nations peacekeeping forces, identifies existing difficulties, and proposes directions for women's participation in peace and security in the future to realize the goals of the United Nations and the common commitments of nations. In addition, the thesis also proposes increasing the participation of Vietnamese women in these forces.
11. Practical Applications: Based on the research content of this thesis on the 20 years of implementing Resolution 1325, it can contribute an overview to relevant agencies in the field of Women, Peace and Security regarding the participation, results, and contributions of women in UN peacekeeping missions, for policy planning and as a general perspective. Party and State agencies, research units, and Vietnam's peacekeeping agencies can refer to the content of this thesis to gain a broader perspective on assessing the impact and participation of Vietnamese women in global security issues. From this, they can develop appropriate strategies to demonstrate Vietnam's strong commitment to the Women, Peace and Security Agenda in the future.
