10. Summary of project results:
Depression is one of the most common mental disorders, profoundly affecting the emotions, cognition, and quality of life of many people. This project focuses on researching and applying cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) in the assessment and treatment of a case with symptoms of depression. After 12 intervention sessions with the main goal of reducing depressive symptoms and improving quality of life, the client recorded approximately 85% improvement compared to the baseline. The BDI-II and SAS scores decreased significantly, indicating that the client no longer exhibited symptoms of depression or anxiety. The client felt more stable in mood, slept and ate regularly, was more proactive in communication, expressed emotions appropriately, and maintained positive activities such as cooking, exercising, meeting friends, and connecting with family. The client's self-esteem, confidence, and ability to cope with difficulties improved. Currently, the client is maintaining a stable and positive condition and entering the consolidation phase – preventing relapse.
11. Practical applications:
The intervention process demonstrates the effectiveness of cognitive-behavioral therapy in treating depression. The therapeutic process can be flexibly applied in clinical practice, especially with young clients who have difficulty regulating emotions, and who experience self-perception and social relationship disorders.
