11. Summary of project results:

The project applied Intensive Short-Term Dynamic Psychotherapy (ISTDP) in the intervention of young people exhibiting depressive disorders. By identifying pathways to relieve anxiety, addressing defense mechanisms, and inviting emotional experiences, the clients showed significant improvements in their ability to self-reflect, regulate anxiety, and cope with emotions without resorting to self-aggressive defense mechanisms. As a result, the clients' distressing depressive symptoms significantly decreased, and they gradually regained their capacity for self-reflection, self-observation of their emotions, and healthier coping mechanisms for anger instead of using self-aggressive defense mechanisms as before.

12. Practical applications:

Short-term intensive psychodynamic therapy is a suitable intervention and treatment for depressive disorders, with the potential to powerfully and effectively impact the defense system, helping clients regulate anxiety and explore emotions.

13. Future research directions:

Follow-up studies were conducted to assess the sustainability of symptom improvement and the ability to self-observe and self-reflect after the completion of short-term intensive psychodynamic therapy.
