Second, the thesis compares the US economic policy in the Philippines with the economic policy of Spain in the Philippines before and some other colonial countries during the period 1898 - 1946.

Third, the thesis clarifies some characteristics and impacts of US economic policy in the Philippines on the US and the Philippines.

Firstly, the thesis presents an overview of factors affecting the United States' policy governing the economy in the Philippines; significance of Philippines – colony of the United States in its expansionist policy in Asia Pacific; US invasion to the Philippine islands and basic contents of the US policy governing the Philippines.

Secondly, the thesis also highlights the United States policy governing all economic aspects of the Philippines. It also provides a comparison with the previous economic policy of Spain and some other colonial nations.
