In his research, the author of the thesis came to the following conclusions:

- Identifying the discriminatory attitudes of family and community towards gay men today.

-The author has come to the conclusion that the discriminatory attitude of families and communities towards homosexual men is formed from many different causes, but lack of understanding about homosexuality is the biggest cause.

- Preliminary results of the research show that the lives of gay men face many difficulties after revealing their sexual orientation. Psychological trauma, difficulties in finding jobs and obstacles in accessing social services, always facing the risk of becoming victims of violence and the risk of falling into social evils are serious consequences arising from the discriminatory attitude towards them. In addition, the research also mentioned a reality that the current community also has a discriminatory attitude towards the families of gay men, which has made the family's discrimination against them even more severe. And more broadly, the impacts of social discrimination against gay men have left profound consequences on almost all aspects of social life.

11. Practical application:

The findings from this survey contribute to providing multi-faceted information on family and social attitudes towards homosexuality in Hanoi today and the serious social consequences that follow.

The study also proposed some practical recommendations to effectively address the issue of community integration of the above subjects as a social phenomenon that needs attention.

In the research, the author has come to some conclusion as follows:

  • Acknowledge attitudes about stigma and discrimination of their family and community on gay people currently
  • The author has identified that such attitudes are come from different causes; however the lack of knowledge on gay males is the main reason.
  • The preliminary results of the research have shown that, lives of gay males have many difficulties after they let people know their sexual preferences. Psychological problems, difficulties in job seeking and barriers in accessing social services, being at risk of becoming victims of violence and social evils are serious consequences coming from stigma towards them. Besides, the research also mentions the reality that today community demonstrates their discrimination toward homosexuality's family. This cause family's stigma on gay males to be more serious. Furthermore, society's stigmatization toward gay people has caused profound consequences on most aspects of social life.

Findings from this research has contributed multi-dimensional information on the mind-set of family and society towards gay men in Hanoi these days and its serious social consequences

The research also suggests some realistic recommendations to affectively address the problem of community engagement of the above as a social phenomenon to be concerned.
