10. Summary of thesis results:
In Chapter 1, the thesis analyzed and clarified the US-Vietnam relationship with two main periods 1975-1994 and 1995-2000 to see the changes in US policy towards Vietnam as well as the ups and downs in the history of the relationship between the two countries, from suspicion, embargo, economic tightening to normalization of relations and negotiations to prepare for signing the Bilateral Trade Agreement between the two countries.
In Chapter 2, the thesis has studied the overall relationship between the two countries in the fields of politics, diplomacy, economy, national security and defense... from 2001 to present. From the normalization of diplomatic relations, the US and Vietnam have rapidly expanded their cooperation in all fields, especially in the economic field with the signing of the Bilateral Trade Agreement between the two countries in 2001, marking a strong step forward in the relationship, opening up new opportunities and challenges.
In Chapter 3, the thesis assessed the outstanding features of the US-Vietnam relationship, the achievements, the limitations and obstacles that still exist, and from there, proposed a number of recommendations and solutions to contribute to consolidating and strengthening the US-Vietnam relationship in the coming time.
