This thesis identifies several external and internal factors that present opportunities and challenges for Vietnam-Australia relations during the period 2009-2022, including increasingly fierce great power strategic competition, the unexpected outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic, the foreign policies of Vietnam and Australia, and the history of Vietnam-Australia relations before 2009.
This thesis analyzes the key events in Vietnam-Australia relations across the political, economic, defense-security, and other fields. Based on this practical analysis, the thesis contributes to clarifying the development, strategic nature, and comprehensiveness of Vietnam-Australia relations.
Vietnam and Australia increasingly share common interests on bilateral, regional, and global issues. The two countries have many opportunities for cooperation in various fields, but some limitations remain regarding the investment environment and policy mechanisms.
