Chairman Mao ZedongThe invaluable asset built and nurtured by our predecessors is the friendship between Vietnam and China, a close neighborly relationship that has been inherited and developed by generations of people from both countries. Although Vietnam-China relations have withstood the test of time, friendship and cooperation remain the main current. This friendship, cultivated by generations of leaders from both countries, has become a precious shared asset of the two nations, contributing to the stable development of the traditional friendship between Vietnam and China and bringing tangible benefits to the people of both countries.
The research findings of this thesis assess and analyze the factors affecting Vietnam-China relations and cooperation; the reasons why the two countries need to strengthen their relationship; summarize the developments in Vietnam-China relations from the normalization of relations (1991) to 2012; and analyze and clarify the current state of cooperation between Vietnam and China in the fields of politics, economics, defense, and security from 2012 (when Xi Jinping began his term) to 2024. Based on this, it proposes solutions to overcome obstacles and strengthen Vietnam-China cooperation in these areas, contributing to consolidating and enhancing political trust, promoting comprehensive Vietnam-China cooperation in other fields, and creating a healthy and stable environment for the development of Vietnam-China relations.
In the context of continuing complex and unpredictable international and domestic developments, hostile forces both domestically and internationally are exploiting the South China Sea issue to incite unrest, undermine Vietnam-China solidarity, and create misconceptions about Vietnam-China relations. Therefore, proposing solutions to strengthen Vietnam-China cooperation is of paramount importance. This reaffirms the correct guiding principle established by the two Parties and two states in developing bilateral relations: "friendly neighborliness, comprehensive cooperation, long-term stability, and a future-oriented approach" (1999) and the spirit of "good neighbors, good friends, good comrades, and good partners" (2005). Strengthening and developing Vietnam-China relations to become increasingly stable and healthy is also a crucial factor for the development of each country, contributing to peace, cooperation, and development in the region and the world.
11. Practical applications: This thesis can be used as a basis and research material to further promote bilateral cooperation between Vietnam and China in many other fields such as culture, science and technology, agriculture, currency, tourism, land and sea cooperation, etc.

Vietnam and China are two neighboring countries, with shared mountains and rivers. The two countries also enjoy many similarities in terms of history, culture, and revolutionary course. The traditional friendship neighborhood relations of "the two comrades and brothers" established and painfully built by President Ho Chi Minh, Chairman Mao Zedong and senior leaders have become an invaluable asset and have been inherited, nurtured and consolidated by generations of the people of the two countries. Despites ups and downs over the time, the friendship and cooperation are still the main stream. They have become a common and valuable property of the two peoples, contributing to maintaining the trend of sustainable development of the traditional friendship between Vietnam and China, bringing practical benefits to the people of the two countries.
The thesis' aim is to evaluate and analyze the factors affecting the relationship and cooperation between Vietnam and China; reasons why the two countries need to strengthen their relationship. It examines and clarifies the current state of cooperation between Vietnam and China in the fields of politics, economics, defense and security from 2012 (when Mr. Xi Jinping first took office) to 2024. Then it comes to recomendations on how to overcome obstacles and strengthen cooperation between Vietnam and China in the above mentioned aspects, making consolidation to build up political trust and promote comprehensively cooperation between Vietnam and China in other fields, creating a healthy and sustainable development environment for Vietnam - China relations.
