10. Summary of the thesis results:
Japan is one of Vietnam's most important partners today. Adjustments to Japan's policies, especially its foreign policy, will have some impact on the region in general and Vietnam in particular. The "Free and Open Indo-Pacific Vision" is considered a key focus of Japan's current foreign policy; therefore, research on Japan's "Free and Open Indo-Pacific Vision" is essential.
The thesis has clarified three issues: (1) The basis of Japan's Free and Open Indo-Pacific Vision; (2) The content and implementation measures of Japan's Free and Open Indo-Pacific Vision in the period 2016-2021; (3) An assessment of the successes, limitations, and characteristics of Japan's Free and Open Indo-Pacific Vision. The impact of Japan's Free and Open Indo-Pacific Vision on ASEAN and Vietnam is also pointed out; and some policy suggestions are offered to strengthen Vietnam-Japan relations in the future.
