10. Summary of the thesis results:

This thesis, titled "The Issue of Green Space in Urban Planning in China from 1978 to the Present – The Case of Shanghai," aims at three objectives:

First, clarify the concept of urban green space and its importance in urban planning and construction.

Secondly, present and analyze the urban green space planning and construction policies of Shanghai from 1978 to the present.

Third, draw some lessons from the planning and construction of urban green spaces in Shanghai.

Based on the objectives of this thesis, through the process of research and investigation, the author has obtained the following results:

- Urban green spaces refer to areas of land that have been greened, located within the city and suburbs, with the function of providing recreational spaces for residents, protecting and improving the environment, and beautifying the city. Green spaces are an important part of urban planning and construction. They are the "green lungs" of the city and bring many benefits.

- Before 1978, the Shanghai government did not prioritize the planning and construction of green spaces, resulting in a very limited number of green areas. After 1978, the city government proposed numerous policies for green space planning to suit the requirements of each stage. Shanghai also developed specific plans for green space construction with guiding principles and concrete goals for each phase. These policies and plans have greatly influenced the development of green spaces in Shanghai, transforming it from a "city lacking in greenery" into a "national-level garden city."

- From 1978 to the present, Shanghai has achieved great success in building green spaces. However, Shanghai still faces many limitations in developing green spaces and cannot yet compare with other major cities in China. Shanghai still has a very long way to go in the planning and construction of green spaces.

11. Practical applications:

Through research and analysis of Shanghai's urban green space planning and construction policies from 1978 to the present, lessons are drawn for the process of planning and constructing green spaces in Vietnam.

10. Summary of the findings of the thesis:

The thesis titled “Urban green space in urban planning and construction in China since 1978 - Case Study of Shanghai” aims at 3 objectives:

Firstly, it points out the concept of urban green space and its importance in urban planning and construction.

Secondly, it demonstrates and analyzes the policies of planning and construction of urban green space system in Shanghai since 1978.

Thirdly, draw some experience from planning and construction of urban green space in Shanghai.

Based on above - mentioned objectives, after my research and studying process, I have obtained the following results:

- Urban green space is vegetated areas within the urban and suburban areas that provides recreational facilities for the people, protects and improves the environment, and beautifies the city. Green space is an important part in urban planning and construction. It is the “green lung” of the city and brings many benefits.

- Prior to 1978, the Shanghai government did not attach importance to planning and construction of green space, so the quantity of green space was very small. After 1978, the government proposed many policies of green space planning in accordance with the requirements of each period. Shanghai also has specific plans of green space construction with the concrete guidance and goals for each period. These policies have greatly impacted on the development of green space in Shanghai. Shanghai no longer lacks green space and becomes a “national garden city”.

- Since 1978, Shanghai has obtained great achievements in construction of urban green space. However, there are many dangers in the development of green space, and Shanghai does not keep pace with other major cities in China. Shanghai still has a long way to go in planning and construction of green space.

11. Practical applicability:

Through research and analysis of the policies of planning and construction of urban green space in Shanghai since 1978 to draw experience for the process of planning and construction of green space in Vietnam.
