10. Summary of project results:
The project presents the theoretical basis of depressive disorders and psychological interventions for depression, with a focus on the target group of young people. The project reviews studies on depressive disorders including the current situation, factors causing depressive disorders and psychological treatments for depressive disorders. The project also describes clinical features and diagnostic criteria according to DSM-5, explanations of psychological theories of depression. In addition, the project reviews existing methods of assessment and intervention for depression, focusing on the cognitive-behavioral approach theory, to support young people to overcome depressive disorders and improve their quality of life.
The project presents the process of psychological intervention for a young man with symptoms of depression. The results of the intervention showed that the client had a significant reduction in depressive symptoms, increased self-esteem, improved social functioning and returned to normal. The client experienced more positive emotions, believed in himself, knew his own worth and had specific goals and plans for the future. In addition, the client also gained new knowledge and skills to help increase the ability to cope with stressful situations in the future.
11. Practical application:
Based on the results obtained from the theoretical research process and the practical results in clinical intervention, the project has provided further evidence on the effectiveness of cognitive-behavioral therapy in intervening symptoms of depressive disorders in young people. In addition, the limitations of the project are also mentioned with the desire to provide new clinical psychologists with useful lessons, contributing to improving the effectiveness of future treatment when applying cognitive-behavioral therapy with this group of clients.
