10. Summary of project results:

This project presents the theoretical basis of depressive disorders and psychological interventions for depression, with a focus on young people. It reviews research on depressive disorders, including their current state, contributing factors, and psychotherapy. The project also describes the clinical characteristics and diagnostic criteria according to DSM-5, and explains the psychological theories of depression. Furthermore, it discusses existing methods for assessing and intervening in depression, focusing on cognitive-behavioral approaches, to support young people in overcoming depressive disorders and improving their quality of life.

This project presents the psychological intervention process for a young male exhibiting symptoms of depression. The intervention results showed a significant reduction in depressive symptoms, an increase in self-esteem, improved social functioning, and a return to normal levels. The client experienced more positive emotions, gained self-confidence, recognized his self-worth, and developed specific goals and plans for the future. Furthermore, the client acquired new knowledge and skills that enhanced his ability to cope with stressful situations in the future.

 

11. Practical applications:

Based on the results obtained from theoretical research and practical outcomes in clinical case interventions, the project has provided further evidence of the effectiveness of cognitive-behavioral therapy in intervening in the symptoms of depressive disorders in young people. In addition, the limitations of the project are also addressed with the hope of providing useful lessons for newly practicing clinical psychologists, contributing to improved therapeutic effectiveness in the future when applying cognitive-behavioral therapy to this client group.

The proposal presents the theoretical basis of depressive disorders and psychological interventions for depression, with particular attention to the young people. It reviews studies on depressive disorders, including their current prevalence, contributing factors, and psychological treatments for depressive disorders. The proposal also describes the clinical characteristics and diagnostic criteria according to the DSM-5, as well as psychological theories explaining depression. In addition, the proposal reviews existing methods of assessment and intervention for depression, focusing on cognitive-behavioral approach, with the aim of supporting young people in overcoming depressive disorders and improving their quality of life.

The proposal presents the process of psychological intervention for a young adult with depressive symptoms. The results of the intervention showed a marked reduction in depressive symptoms, increased self-esteem, improved social functions and returned to normal. The client more positive emotions, was more confident, knew his worth and published specific experienced goals and plans for the future. Besides, the client acquired new knowledge and skills that enhanced his ability to cope with stressful situations in the future.

Based on the results obtained from the theoretical research and the practical outcomes in the clinical intervention, the proposal provides further evidence on the effectiveness of cognitive-behavioral therapy in intervening depressive disorder symptoms among young adults. Furthermore, the limitations of the proposal are also mentioned with the desire to provide new clinical psychologists with useful lessons, thereby contributing to improving the effectiveness of future treatment when applying cognitive-behavioral therapy with this group of clients.
