Fundamental issues concerning depressive disorders, including the concept, theoretical approaches to depression, clinical characteristics, diagnostic criteria according to DSM 5, assessment methods, and interventions, are also addressed in the study. In addition, the study describes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), its application, and therapeutic techniques in the intervention of depressive disorders.
Intervention results showed that after the sessions, the client experienced a reduction in depressive symptoms, stopped self-harming behaviors when experiencing negative emotions, was able to apply stress management techniques, developed healthy lifestyle habits, and increased beneficial activities. By changing their behavior, the client also began to identify the impact of irrational beliefs and replaced them with more helpful ones.
