Firstly, the thesis systematizes the studies on anxiety and school problems; at the same time, builds a theoretical basis to clarify the concepts of anxiety and anxiety manifestations originating from school problems, the concept of adolescents and age-related psychological characteristics; cognitive behavioral therapy and main techniques used.
Second, the main content of the thesis focuses on reporting the assessment and intervention process for a case of anxiety symptoms originating from school problems based on cognitive behavioral therapy. The thesis uses therapeutic techniques to achieve the main goals in the intervention process: (1) Support, stabilize emotions and reduce anxiety symptoms; (2) Intervene in the client's cognition, emotions and behavior; (3) Build close relationships, build a healthy lifestyle; (4) Prevent anxiety symptoms from returning. After 12 intervention sessions, the effectiveness of the intervention was evaluated based on assessment tools (DASS-21 scale and school anxiety scale) and the client's functional activities, showing a significant reduction in anxiety symptoms. From there, it was determined that cognitive behavioral therapy is effective in treating clients with anxiety symptoms.
