The topic: “Health care for the elderly in rural Vietnam today and social work activities (Research in Quynh Ba commune - Quynh Luu - Nghe An) is conducted with the aim of learning about the issue of health care for the elderly in rural Vietnam today to help people better understand the situation of health care for the elderly.
The study shows that the proportion of elderly people in the study area is increasing and the proportion of elderly women is higher than that of men. Elderly people of different ages still participate in labor to generate income, support their children and grandchildren with material and housework.
Family models are changing rapidly; the proportion of elderly people living in single-generation families and families with missing generations is increasing; with low incomes, the main source of income is mainly from agricultural production, so children go to work far away, no one takes care of them, especially when they are sick, at this time the elderly and their families tend to use outside services, but due to economic constraints, the number of elderly people using outside care services is very small and for a short period of time. The family no longer plays the main role in caring for the elderly, but is gradually transferred to the state, social organizations, private health services, and market services. This shows the concern of society and community organizations for the elderly, but at the same time, the role of the family is gradually fading.
Local social organizations have almost no role in health care for the elderly. Commune health facilities lack equipment and medical staff, and medical examination and treatment at commune health stations have not been promoted.
The topic has raised the prospects and activities of social work in health care for the elderly, helping to raise the awareness of the whole society about health care for the elderly and ensuring the rights of the elderly.

no one care about elderly people, especially when they are sick, since that elderly people and families tend to use external services, but due to the difficulty of finance, there are only few elderly people join that external services with some times.
