Applying the method of historical poetics research, the thesis has studied 4 plays by L. Tolstoy belonging to the genres of drama and comedy. L. Tolstoy's plays are examined from two reference points: (1) in relation to the writer's creative system, from direct statements of the concept of drama to the expression of that concept in prose writing, specifically in epic novels.War and Peaceand (2) in relation to the Russian and European theatrical traditions. From these two points of reference, the thesis has explained the characteristic "bridging genre" of L. Tolstoy's plays as inheriting some principles of folk, ancient, Shakespearean, and Schilleran plays, with the combination of lyrical, psychological, symbolic, and philosophical elements.

Contributing experience in applying a historical poetics approach to determine the value of L. Tolstoy's artistic discoveries in a genre that has not received much attention in his artistic legacy.

Applying research methodology historical poetics, essays. Research L.Tolstoy 4 plays of various genres Drama (Drama) and comedy by L.Tolstoy .Kich surveyed from two points of reference: (1) in relation to systems composed of writers, from speaking directly to the notion of dramatic expression of the concepts in prose composition, namely the epic novel War and Peace, and (2) in relation to traditional Russian and European theater.
