10. Summary of thesis results:

1/ Basically, the case study of Ngoc Than village has contributed a clearer, more vivid and multi-dimensional view of the transformation of village space under the impact of urbanization, initially building and distinguishing two main spatial systems in the Northern villages including public space and private space.

2/ Ngoc Than village space has undergone very strong changes since the urbanization. The shift in function, the increase in religious practice in traditional public spaces such as communal houses, pagodas, temples, writing houses, etc., the disappearance of water spaces such as ponds, streams, wells, etc., and the appearance of modern public spaces, all contain great impacts on the operation of the village, the clan, the family, and the individual. Although highly applicable, with the rapid development of multi-storey houses, the village space has somewhat lost the soul of a traditional village with "traditional spaces". The experiences of the people, therefore, take place through many different levels. Understanding their psychology and experiences also helps us to partly explain the spatial changes associated with the history of each individual.

3/ Urbanization is only one of many factors that determine the way Ngoc Than village space is replaced throughout the historical, political, cultural and social context. However, it must be affirmed that, with the impact of urbanization, the spatial transformation is truly strong and complex with many influencing factors, from internal factors of individuals and communities to external factors such as state policies, programs and projects implemented locally.

4/ Through this, it suggests thoughts on identifying traditional and modern factors in order to be able to move towards interpretations of sustainable urbanization development in rural Vietnam, moving towards modernity without breaking with past traditions. Or, as the late scholar Tran Dinh Huou said, it is possible to reach modernity from tradition.

Transformed Functional, the rise of religious practice in traditional spaces such as communal houses, pagodas,... the disappearance of space as the water spaces such as ponds, wells, ... and the emergence of the modern public space, all of them contain impacts on the operation of the village, the parentage, the family, and the individual. Despite it has high applicability but with the development of the building, the space of village is somewhat lost the spirit of a traditional village with the "traditional space". Experience of the people, therefore, takes place through many different levels.
