10. Summary of thesis results:
Although time and research materials are limited, the thesis has basically met the set objectives. The results of the thesis include:
  • In chapter 1, the thesis studies the development of the Japanese economy and the textile industry until 1990. It focuses on analyzing the changes in the socio-economic context of Japan, thereby affecting the development of the textile industry before and after World War II in each historical period. Specifically, in the pre-war period, from a developed economy, Japan became exhausted due to the devastation of war, then achieved outstanding growth thanks to major socio-economic reforms during the high growth period. The textile industry also prospered before the war, was devastated by war and was not encouraged to develop during wartime, then continued to develop again, exceeding the pre-war level. However, in the years 1975 - 1990, entering the period of structural reform and bubble, the economy began to decline again. Considered one of Japan's economic pillars for many years, in recent years, textiles have also declined, from a leading textile exporter in the world to a textile importer.
  • In chapter 2, the thesis focuses on clarifying the situation of female labor in the Japanese textile industry from 1945 to 1990. Accordingly, in the post-war period (1945 to 1990), the female labor force in the Japanese textile industry also had significant changes. During the restructuring period, the female labor force in the industry grew stronger to meet the needs of economic recovery. Entering the period of high growth, especially in 1965, the number of female laborers in the Japanese textile industry increased to its peak. Then, when the economy entered the period of structural reform and the economic bubble began to appear, the female labor force in the industry gradually decreased. Along with the change in quantity, the structure of female labor in the Japanese textile industry during this period also had major changes. That is the gradual replacement of the older female labor force who were irregular (part-time) and married. This is in stark contrast to the early postwar years when young, unmarried female workers dominated the female workforce in Japan's textile industry.
  • Chapter 3 of the thesis focuses on analyzing the current status of female labor management in the Japanese textile industry from 1945 to 1990. The management of the industry's female labor force is reflected in prominent policies including recruitment; dormitory system and timetable; education and vocational training; wages and benefits. Thereby, it can be seen that strict and increasingly better management policies have significantly improved the lives of female workers in the textile industry.
11. Practical applicability: The topic contributes to clarifying the current status of female labor management in the Japanese textile industry during the period 1945 - 1990, thereby seeing the significant progress of the textile industry, and at the same time serving as a basis for comparison with the management of female labor in the industry in modern times.
