This study aims to understand the situation of child labor in Hanoi city, propose some solutions and recommendations to limit the current situation of child labor. Through the process of understanding the geographical location and research area to find out the causes of child labor and from the research methods to point out the positive and negative aspects of child labor on that basis, determine the role of social workers in preventing, solving and protecting child labor in Hanoi city.

In particular, the topic focuses on analyzing the role of social workers and the process of assisting child laborers through the following main roles: (1) The role of a communicator and social activist; (2) The role of a consultant and advisor; (3) The role of an advocate; (4) The role of a psychological supporter; (5) The role of a resource connector; (6) The role of a change maker; and (7) The role of an educator and awareness-raiser. By applying the skills and methods of a social worker with specific actions, this is the difference in the method of assisting child laborers compared to other majors and research topics.

Finally, the study draws lessons learned in the process of helping child laborers, thereby providing solutions and recommendations for the government, schools, families, the Party and the State to improve the capacity of social workers participating in the child protection system.

The thesis has a focused purpose of drawing a clear picture of child labor in Hanoi, suggesting some practical solutions to the current problem of child labor. Based on the study about areas and locations to find out the deep causes of child labor and the scientific research methods to point out the advantages and disadvantages of child labor, the thesis stresses the importance of social workers in the field of the prevention, settlement and protection of child labor in Hanoi.
