This study aims to investigate the situation of child labor in Hanoi, and propose solutions and recommendations to mitigate the current child labor problem. Through the process of examining the geographical location and research area, the study identifies the causes of child labor and, using research methods, highlights the positive and negative aspects of child labor. Based on this, it determines the role of social workers in preventing, addressing, and protecting child labor in Hanoi.

Specifically, the topic focuses on analyzing the role of social workers and the process of assisting child laborers through the following main roles: (1) Social communicator and advocate; (2) Counselor and advisor; (3) Advocate; (4) Psychological supporter; (5) Resource connector; (6) Change maker; and (7) Educator and awareness raiser. By applying the skills and methods of a social worker with specific actions, this is a differentiating factor in the child labor assistance method compared to other disciplines and research topics.

Finally, the study draws lessons learned from the process of assisting child laborers and offers solutions and recommendations to the government, schools, families, the Party, and the State to enhance the capacity of social workers participating in the child protection system.

The thesis has a focused purpose of drawing a clear picture of child labor in Hanoi, suggesting some practical solutions to the current problem of child labor. Based on the study about areas and locations to find out the deep causes of child labor and the scientific research methods to point out the advantages and disadvantages of child labor, the thesis stresses the importance of social workers in the field of the prevention, settlement and protection of child labor in Hanoi.

specifically, the thesis concentrates on further studying the role that social workers play and the assistance that they provide for child labor through main roles as follows: (1) the role of social campaigners; (2) the role of consultants and counsellors; (3) the role of advocates; (4) the role of psychological consultants; (5) the role of personal coordinators; (6) the role of change makers; and (7) the role of educators and awareness raisers. Finally, the thesis has drawn some lessons in helping child labor so that it can recommend some solutions and suggestions to local authorities, schools, families and the Party and Government to improve the working skills and capacities of social workers invovling in children protection.
