The research topic "Social Media Usage Needs of FPT University Students" explores the current social media usage needs of FPT University students, thereby providing an overview of their social media usage patterns. The research subjects were 300 students from the university. Based on the research results, the study drew the following conclusions:
In today's globalized world, social media plays a crucial role, representing a trend of the times – the age of connectivity, the age of a "flat world." FPT University students are no exception, connecting with people everywhere through social media platforms, especially Facebook, Zingme, Twitter, YouTube, etc. Recognizing the high demand for social media use among FPT University students, this study aims to identify the current state of social media usage among students, their needs for both learning and entertainment. Observing the significant level and frequency of social media participation among students, which occupies a large portion of their daily lives and study time, and investigating the factors influencing their social media use—including positive aspects such as connecting with friends, chatting, sharing learning materials, announcing class and exam schedules, communicating with professors, and business—we also found negative aspects such as sexting, nude photography, and sharing inaccurate information. Based on these findings, we propose several recommendations for network administrators: improve network connectivity, create more useful applications on social media, and more strictly control websites that negatively impact young people, especially students. Schools and families should provide more encouragement and support to students, closely monitor and control their online time, and create beneficial platforms for students to participate in on social media to raise their awareness.
11. Practical applications: This helps schools, families, network administrators, and students themselves understand the importance of social media, and develop policies and methods for effective social media use. It also raises students' awareness.
12. Future research directions: Research on the social media usage needs of students in general.
