Happiness is an emotion that everyone longs to pursue and aspires to achieve. Each person's perception of happiness can differ, depending on their perspective, lifestyle, and reactions. Buddhism is a religion that always emphasizes the perfection of virtue and the values of life. Young Buddhists are those who directly learn from the wisdom of the Buddha, and can practice Buddhist teachings to actively build their families, themselves, and serve society. In this study, the author provides an overview of research on the perception of happiness among young Buddhists, exploring the correlations of various aspects, the influence of spiritual practice, faith in the Three Jewels, and the practice of the Five Precepts on young Buddhists; and also presents other novel findings.
Practical research results show that the level of happiness manifestation among Buddhist youth is high. There is a correlation between the manifestations of happiness and factors such as belief in the Three Jewels, spiritual practice, and adherence to the Five Precepts. When Buddhist youth have a high level of belief in the Three Jewels, spiritual practice, and adherence to the Five Precepts, their happiness is also high, and vice versa. The manifestations of happiness and their influencing factors differ. Regarding gender, males have higher levels of happiness in all three aspects compared to females. Furthermore, those who have taken refuge in the Three Jewels experience higher levels of happiness than those who have not. Spiritual practice and adherence to the Five Precepts have a positive influence on the level of happiness of Buddhist youth, while belief in the Three Jewels does not significantly affect happiness.
11. Practical applications: Based on the research results, this thesis contributes to identifying several factors influencing the sense of happiness among young Buddhist followers. Through this, it emphasizes that spiritual practice and the observance of the five precepts have a positive impact on enhancing feelings of happiness.
