10. Summary of the thesis results:
Everyone desires an authentic life, to live as themselves, and LGBTQ+ individuals are no exception. In reality, however, the process of coming out presents many difficulties and obstacles for LGBTQ+ people. This situation is a consequence of several factors, both subjective (psychological readiness for coming out, knowledge about LGBT issues and the coming-out process, etc.) and objective (social stigma, family opposition, etc.).
The LGBTQ+ community today desperately needs empathy and support from family and society, as well as courage from themselves, to successfully come out. Besides positive responses from family and society, each LGBTQ+ individual needs to equip themselves with many things before coming out: knowledge, mindset, psychology, skills, etc. This is precisely why assistance from professional social workers is essential.
The topic has presented an overview of the issue, analyzed the current situation of openly gay people in Hanoi, identified the causes and consequences of the difficulties, and also offered specific recommendations to overcome the current situation.
Within the framework of this study, the author conducted a case study using individual social work methods to assist homosexuals in the coming-out process and obtained some very noteworthy results. Although the study did not help the client achieve the ultimate goal of coming out, the individual social work process that the author and the client carried out during the research ensured that most of the tasks set out in the support plan were met. These are promising initial results that warrant further research to potentially expand the support of social work in general, and social work methods in particular, to homosexuals in their coming-out process.
Hopefully, the results of this research will contribute in some way to demonstrating the role of social work in assisting the community, specifically LGBTQ+ people in Hanoi.
11. Practical applications:
Although the author only used individual social work methods in two case studies, it offers a suggestion for those working in the field of LGBTQ+ rights and centers providing social work services for LGBTQ+ individuals.
The most specific application is in providing support to LGBTQ+ individuals during the coming-out process, through case management (small-scale, one-on-one relationships) and psychological counseling services (large-scale, professional systems).
The application of professional social work methods, especially social work methods, to support LGBTQ+ individuals in the coming-out process is a new step forward. Hopefully, in the not-too-distant future, with the help of social workers, LGBTQ+ individuals will be able to proactively overcome difficulties and successfully come out to their families and communities.
12. Future research directions:
If the necessary qualifications, time, and professional work schedule are met, the author will continue to expand the research topic to a broader scope and include more case studies of LGBTQ+ clients who intend to come out or who have been unsuccessful in doing so. In addition, the author also hopes to research the use of other social work methods (if applicable and effective in practice) to assist LGBTQ+ individuals in the coming-out process.
This expanded research direction is what the author hopes to pursue for a doctoral thesis in Social Work.

11. Summary of the findings of the thesis
Each one of us wants to have our own life, to be true to ourselves. So due to homosexual people. In the reality, when coming out that they are gay, homosexual people have to face a lot of difficulties and obstacles. This situation is the result of several factors, including subjective factors (preparing to come out, knowledge about LGBT community and coming out process, ...) and objective factors (discrimination from society, resistance from family, ...).
Gay community now needs sympathy, sharing from family, society and the courage of their own to successfully implement the coming out process. Besides the positive responses from their own family and society, gay people still need to equip themselves with a lot of factors before making a coming out process: knowledge, mentality, psychology and skills... That is also why they need support and help from professional social workers.
The subject has shown the complete overview of the problem, analyze the situation that so many openly gay people in Hanoi are facing nowsaday, the cause and consequence of the difficulties, as well as offered to specify solutions to the current situation.
In the framework of the research, I have conducted case studies using case method personal social services to help homosexual people with coming out process and obtained some remarkable results. Although I didn't help the client to accomplish the biggest goal of the coming out process, but the process of individual social work with clients who authors worked with during the study subjects was guaranteed to meet most of the quests set out in the aid scheme. Those are the initial results which are very interesting and can be replicated to the aid of the social work sector in general and to social work methods in particular for homosexual community during their coming out process.
Hopefully, these results will somehow contribute to the role of social work in community assistance and specifically gay community in Hanoi.
12. Chance to apply in practice:
Although the author had only used personal social services for the two case studies, but that is also a suggestion for those who fight for gay rights and the supporting social work services to homosexuals centers.
Specific application is implementing homosexual assistance during coming out process with case management forms (small, one to one personal relationship) and psychological counseling service (provided with large and professional system).
Being able to apply professional social work methods, especially the ones to support gay community in considering out processes is a new step. Hopefully, in the not too distant future, homosexual people with the help of social workers can actively overcome difficulties and successfully come out with their family and community.
13. The following research directions:
If the guarantee is conditional on the level, duration and schedule of professional work, I will continue to develop the subject with a broader scope and study other cases from other clients who are gay projecting to come out or having not succeeded in coming out process. Besides, I also want next research to use other methods of social work (if applicable and effective in practice) to assist homosexuals in the coming out process.
Expanding the research direction, I hope to have to chace to make this topic of fellow majoring in social work.
