10. Summary of the thesis results:

- The thesis is divided into 3 chapters:

- Chapter 1: An overview of the domestic and international social context at the end of the 19th century; the Vietnamese tradition of maritime trade throughout history and the situation of maritime trade from the reign of King Gia Long to the reign of King Thieu Tri.

- Chapter 2: This is the main chapter of the thesis. In this chapter, the thesis focuses on clarifying the changes in Emperor Tu Duc's maritime trade policies in two periods: the period of restricted and strict prohibition of maritime trade (1848 - 1874) and the period of gradually relaxing and then abolishing the ban on maritime trade (1874 - 1883). These policy changes led to many positive changes in maritime trade and exchange between Vietnam and other countries.

- In Chapter 3: Based on the presentation and discussion of previous researchers' views on Vietnamese maritime trade under Emperor Tu Duc's reign, the thesis offers observations on the maritime trade situation under Emperor Tu Duc's reign, and compares maritime trade activities during this period with those of the preceding period.

11. Practical applications:

The research findings of this thesis can be used as a reference in research and teaching on economic history and modern Vietnamese history; in addition, lessons and suggestions can be drawn for formulating current foreign trade policies in our country.

12. Future research directions:

Based on the research results on Vietnamese maritime trade during the reign of Emperor Tu Duc (1848 - 1883), this thesis could potentially continue its research on Vietnamese maritime trade during the French colonial period (1884 - 1945) in the future.

11. Summary of the findings of the thesis:

This thesis is divided into three chapters:

- In the first chapter: Thesis generalize the social situation in the country and international late nineteenth century; traditional sea of ​​trade of Vietnamese in the history and situation sea of ​​trade of Vietnam from Gia Long King to Thieu Tri King.

- In chapter two: This is the main chapters of the thesis. In this chapter, the thesis focuses on clarifying the change to sea of ​​trade policy of Tu Duc King in 2 periods: Limited and prohibitions of period of trade, exchange at sea (1848 - 1874) and gradually loosening and removing of period to ban on maritime trade at sea (1874 - 1883). The change in policy has resulted in trade, exchanges at sea between Vietnam and the countries that have changed to trend of positive.

- In chapter three: Based on the presentations and discussions with view of researchers about sea of ​​trade Vietnam under the Tu Duc King, thesis renders some to comment on sea of ​​trade in Tu Duc King, simultaneous comparison of commercial activity during this period with the previous period.

12. Practical applicability:

These results of the thesis can be used as a reference document for the academic research about economic history and the history of early modern Vietnam. In addition we can draw lessons and implications for the formulation of trade policies of our country today.

13. Further research:

Based on the research results that have been sea trade of Vietnam under King Tu Duc from 1848 to 1883, future, I will go deeply on studying to sea trade in Vietnam from 1884 to 1945.
