10. Summary of thesis results:

The thesis has reviewed domestic and foreign works on community participation in tourism activities. On that basis, the author has systematized theoretical and practical issues on tourism on the participation of local communities in tourism activities (concepts, participants, levels of participation, factors affecting participation, the role of community participation, etc.). By using observation methods, in-depth interviews, questionnaires, etc. and using data processing tools: SPSS, Excel, etc., the thesis has shown that in Mu Cang Chai, the level of participation in tourism activities of the people is still low, only stopping at the level of participation in providing information (level 2/7 on the Pretty scale) in activities of protecting resources and promoting tourism; the level of participation in material incentives (level 4/7 on the Pretty scale) in activities of providing services and planning tourism service development. At the same time, the thesis also pointed out two factors: attitude - awareness and factors on tourism business organization as factors affecting community participation in tourism development. Through the assessment, it shows that the community group with high education level and young people tend to actively participate in tourism activities. The thesis also proposed orientations to increase community participation in tourism development in Mu Cang Chai such as: raising awareness and enhancing capacity for the community; building a tourism management board; supporting local communities in terms of capital, policy mechanisms, technical facilities for tourism; connecting stakeholders in tourism development; promoting links with travel companies, enhancing tourism promotion.

The thesis has reviewed domestic and foreign works on community participation in tourism activities.
