10. Summary of the thesis results:

This thesis provides an overview of domestic and international studies on community participation in tourism activities. Based on this, the author systematizes theoretical and practical issues concerning tourism and the participation of local communities in tourism activities (concept, participating components, levels of participation, factors influencing participation, the role of community participation, etc.). Using observation, in-depth interviews, questionnaires, and data processing tools such as SPSS and Excel, the thesis shows that in Mu Cang Chai, the level of local people's participation in tourism activities remains low, only reaching the level of providing information (level 2/7 on the Pretty scale) in resource protection and tourism promotion; and the level of material incentives (level 4/7 on the Pretty scale) in providing services and planning tourism service development. Simultaneously, the thesis also pointed out two factors—attitudes and perceptions, and factors related to the organization of tourism business activities—that influence community participation in tourism development. The assessment showed that communities with higher education levels and young people tend to participate more actively in tourism activities. The thesis also proposed directions to increase community participation in tourism development in Mu Cang Chai, such as: raising awareness and strengthening community capacity; establishing a tourism management board; supporting local communities with capital, policy mechanisms, and technical infrastructure for tourism; connecting stakeholders in tourism development; promoting linkages with travel companies; and enhancing tourism promotion.

11. Summary of the findings of the thesis:

The thesis has reviewed domestic and foreign works on community participation in tourism activities. On that basis, the author has systemized theoretical and practical issues on tourism about the participation of local communities in tourism activities (concepts, participants, levels of participation in tourism). Factors affecting participation, the role of community participation, etc.). By methods of observation, in-depth interviews, questionnaires... and using data processing tools: SPSS, Excel, etc., the thesis has shown that in Mu Cang Chai people's level of participation in tourism activities is low, only at the level of participation in providing information (level 2/7 according to the Pretty scale) in resource protection and tourism promotion; level of participation in material encouragement (level 4/7 on the Pretty scale) in service provision and tourism service development planning. At the same time, the thesis has also pointed out that 2 factors are attitude - awareness, and factors about organizing tourism business activities which are the factors affecting the participation of the community in tourism development. The assessment shows that the community group with a high level of education and young people tend to actively participate in tourism activities. The thesis also proposed orientations to increase community participation in tourism development in Mu Cang Chai such as: raising awareness and capacity building for the community; building a tourism management board; support the local community in capital sources, mechanisms and policies, material and technical facilities for tourism; engage stakeholders in tourism development; strengthen linkages with tour operators, enhance tourism promotion.
